Management Board

Unconfirmed Minutes from the last Management Board meeting, held on 5th February 2008, are now available to CEC Working Group members on the CEC Web Site. More detail about the subjects below can be found in the minutes.

TDG-F-098 – DW10 Injector Fouling

It is expected that the Test Method will be ready and the test accepted into CEC within the next few weeks.
It will soon be possible for companies to purchase a licence from CEC to use this test, at a cost of Euro 19,800.  Contact the CEC Secretariat for details.

TDG-L-099 – OM646 Wear Test

There is still some discussion on the setting of R-targets for some parameters.  It is anticipated that this test development will be completed in April 2008.

TDG-L-100 – Turbo Deposits Test

Oils with known field performance are being offered for Phase 3 testing.  A Research Report, incorporating all the information learnt so far, is in the process of being produced.  It will be placed on the CEC Web Site for the use of test sponsors only.

SG-L-053 - Sludge Test

The new batch of reference fuel is being tested in a Round Robin. Most results are in and they appear to be satisfactory. The balance results from the Round Robin should be collected and then all the RR results analysed. If the Group and its SDG Liaison Officer are happy with the results, then the Group Chairman should convey this to the CEC Secretariat and the Board will then support the use of CEC L-53-95 test again. An announcement will be made on the CEC Web site as soon as possible.

SG-L-101 – OM501 Bore Polishing and Piston Cleanliness Test

Acceptance limits have been proposed for this test.  Further questions require answering before this test can be fully accepted into CEC, but this is expected soon.

New Test Development – FZG PTX C/10/90 Pitting Test

The Transmissions Chairman is working with FZG to produce a detailed project plan for the Terms of Reference, but further work to bring this test into CEC has been postponed until later in 2008, pending the outcome of some independent Industry testing.

Test Monitoring

Group Members of tests in the test monitoring system are reminded to maintain records of reference test results on their data input sheets until the new system is up and running.  This is still expected to be by end March 2008.

Raising Income in CEC

It was agreed that fees charged to buy a licence to use a sponsored test method should be retained to help finance CEC, instead of being returned to sponsors during the first two years after being developed.  This decision will be checked legally before implementation and the amendment of the CEC Constitution.
If implemented, it will affect future CEC sponsored test developments but will not be applied retroactively to existing ones.

Life Plan of CEC Tests

The latest issue of this document can be found in the Members area of the CEC Web Site and is a good indication of how long hardware and support will be available for individual CEC tests.
